Photo Restoration

Pictures can bring back so many memories and it often seems that special one that has become creased or discoloured. So why not have it restored? We have even amazed ourselves with some of the restoration work we have undertaken. In some instances hidden faces have even been revealed.

We restore not only personal photographs but also pictures that are later are used in books and magazines. So if your photo is for personal use or for commercial use it doesn't matter to us.

Below are just a few we have restored for the writer and historian Dr. Patrick Chaplin.

The pictures below have been used either on websites or in books or magazines. By clicking on the images you can see the photo in its original state and restored state. The images have been scaled down for internet use.

The Maldon based bus.

This picture was badly cut. Pieces were missing and it was partly discoloured. On this site you can not fully see the extent of the restoration.

Discoloured, scratched and folded at some point. The resolution of this photo wasn't the best but the blemishes were removed.

Harry Head

This is a picture most of us may have taken at some point. The subject matter is Harry Head but three quarters of this photo is just background. The original photo, as seen here, was badly worn. The decision was made to enhance the subject matter (Harry) and lose most of the background.

Two versions of the same image. The original seen to the left and below a copy with some repair done (Not by Harlequin). The rip still features in the second image and being a copy the definition has been reduced.

Here I use both images to create one new version. I build up of layers and colour correct to original B/W. Then healing tools are used to create a new image fit for publication
